So after writing my previous post on how to get more Instagram followers, I thought I’d follow it up with how to get more blog views. I know a few of my friends, and a few of you on here have blogs, and write content regularly but really want to know HOW to get your stuff noticed, and really increase traffic on your website!
Starting a new blog is exciting: you write your first post, you put your heart and soul into it, and you even share it on all your social media pages. But then, you’re stumped. You only get a handful of views, and you feel that you deserve way more than that. Well, at least more than 10… So, I’m going to share with you how I rose from literally 15 views a day (was literally just my mum, sister and cat!) to almost 3000 unique visitors a day! It’s not rocket science, it will take you a few neat tips and tricks to getting your content noticed. And your content deserves to be noticed, am I right? 😉
1. Post regularly
Posting content regularly can help you get more views per post, meaning if you post 10 posts in a week, and each post gets 100 views, then you will get 1000 views in a week. Compared to posting once a week or once every two weeks. Being consistent with your posts can help to drive traffic, and also encourage people to regularly keep a look out for your content, as they see your blog as a source of new and interesting content to read.
2. Write about one niche
Writing about your day, or your pet, or what you ate on Saturday is cool… But that’s not going to drive traffic to your site. Writing about a range of topics will make it sound like your blog is your own personal diary, and people will slowly lose interest. Stick to a specific niche. If fitness is your thing, write fitness related articles. If you’re a make up blogger, stick to make up reviews or make up tutorials. Writing about to many topics at once will make people unsure of what sort of blogger you are. Less clutter, more traffic and more loyal viewers.
3. Style it up!
If your blog has a simple, boring template layout, it will ultimately affect your whole blog, no matter how good your content is. Opt for a layout that represents who you are and what you’re writing about. WordPress has many free templates, and so does Blogger. Experiment and try them out and see which works for you. You can also customise them to fit your desired theme. Don’t stick to a boring old template. Also, pictures, pictures, pictures. Remember, a blog is supposed to be visual. People rarely read a post from the start to the finish. It’s all about the images! So remember, add images to your posts and draw your readers in. Your readers will thank you!
4. SEO optimisation (for content and headlines)
SEO optimisation can help raise the rank of your blog on Google search. Install the Yoast SEO plugin if you have a WordPress blog. This plugin helps by giving you some guidelines on how to optimise your site. If you’re on Blogger, Tumblr, or other platforms, you can simple optimise your blog by including ‘catch words’ in your posts. For example, if you’re writing an article about healthy eating, include ‘catch words’ such as fitness, healthy recipes, vegan food, ect. You can even These words are the frequently searched on Google, and when people search them, they can stumble on your website. Google’s Adwords Keyword planner is really good for finding key words in your niche. That’s a win-win!
Now that you have optimised your site, it’s essential that you optimise your headlines. Let’s take the topic of ‘healthy recipes’. If your headline is, ‘My Favourite Healthy Recipes’, it is unlikely that many people would click on that headline, nor will it be high up on Google searches. It’s also not a quick and catchy headline that people would be like ‘Hey, I want to read that!’ So, instead, try something like, ‘Best 10 Healthy Recipes to Lose Weight in 2016’. This headline is catchy, it’s interesting, I am very tempted to read this…, and it’s SEO optimised! Catch words like ‘lose weght’, ‘best’, ‘healthy recipes’ and ‘2016’ are included in the headline. So, are you feeling me on SEO optimisation? It works ya’ll.
5. Share your content
It’s super important to share all of your posts on all your social media. If all your Facebook friends, Twitter followers and Instagram followers can see your posts, then your views will rise up. You already have a base of followers, and that’s those on your social media. If you haven’t heard of Pinterest, you need to get on it. Pinterest is a blogger’s lucky charm. When you pin your posts on Pinterest, and other people can pin that post, and then it gets repinned and repinned, and voila, more traffic! It’s like free advertising for your blog! So get sharing!
6. Interact with other bloggers
I think blogger to blogger interaction is a great way to increase traffic to your blog. Leave comments on other blogs, like other posts, and interact with others in your niche. They will most probably end up returning the love back! Also, volunteer to guest post on other bigger blogs. Guest posting for blogs with a large following base can drive more views to your own blog. This happens when that blogger’s followers read your guest post, like your content, and head over to your site. It may take some time to get a response from bigger blogs, but keep trying! If your content is good, you will get a reply sooner or later my friends!
Even with applying all these tips, it will still take time, persistence and dedication. Keep posting regularly, revamp your blog layout, interact with the blogger community, and share your posts. Ultimately, you will see your readership increase. The rule is to NOT GIVE UP! It will take a lot of time and effort, but if you are really passionate about your field and really want to succeed as a blogger, keep going! You will achieve your goals, and you will achieve your dreams! Remember, persistence is key!
I hope all these tips are useful for you guys, and help you all in becoming awesome bloggers!
